I have three different brands of USB sticks. All of them are 32 gigs. When I use them in the car, I regularly get the message "Flashdrive too slow, may not record properly" or words to that effectbut when I take them in to watch on the computer, all the information is there indeed. This is a nice, small unit that connects to the USB on the Tesla with a very short cable, and the drive sits in that front well nicely. With two partitions - one for music and one for the dashcam recordings. I set the first partition to be the dashcam drive.
I like this arrangement very well! There is a similar Samsung drive that I have not tried, but it may well be similar in capability and performance. I never get any warnings about the drive. I expect that it'll last at least years before needing to be replaced. I previously used a SanDisk Fit drive, but it wore out after about 9 months of use and also ran very hot.
However, they're a bit more expensive, as well as being a bit more difficult to use because you've gotta use a cable, and manage the extra length of the cable. I have some short, 9 inch long cables, and even they get caught if I stash anything else in the cubby, occasionally leading to accidentally pulling out the drive.

We started with a simple and important fact: Writing data your video files to a microSD card permanently damages its memory cells.
When video files are overwritten, the memory cells are hit with electrical energy which degrades the semiconductor layer and increases data corruption.
When too many cells are affected, the memory controller will lock the microSD card from writing new files. While this protects existing video footage, the SD card and therefore your dash camera will stop working. The NAND type describes how the physical cells that store information were constructed. In the newest 3D NAND layered construction stacks memory cells on top of each other, now up to 96 layers.
